Tree service in Bay, AR from Jonesboro Master Tree Service takes in the whole range: removing trees, trimming the good ones, grinding stumps and cleaning up after storms. I come out, look at the trees with you and leave a written price. And if a tree just needs a trim, I'll tell you, even though that's the smaller ticket.

Bay is a small Delta town about 10 miles east of Jonesboro, near I-555. The 2020 census counted 1,876 people and called all of it rural, which matches what we see: big lots, long gravel drives, trees along ditches and field edges. Most work here is tree removal of storm-damaged or dying trees, plus trimming the big shade trees folks want to keep. South along the ridge, we also cover Harrisburg.

Bay Trees on Open Farm Ground

Bay sits in the St. Francis Lowlands, part of the flat Mississippi Alluvial Plain, with row crops in every direction. Trees are the only windbreak a house has out here. So the ones around a farmhouse matter a lot, and they take a beating every spring.

Windbreak and Ditch-Bank Trees

Rows of trees along ditches and field edges grew up on their own over decades. Hackberry and sweetgum are common, with a few big oaks mixed in. As they age, dead tops and leaning trunks start showing up, and the row can drop trees on fences, roads and equipment.

Fair warning on ditch-bank trees: they lean toward the water and the light, and their roots on the ditch side are half in the air. They look fine for years, then lay over into the ditch in one wet spring.

Big Yard Trees Around Farmhouses

Most places have one or two huge shade trees next to the house. A big pecan or water oak can stand 60 to 80 feet, taller than the grain bins at the co-op, with limbs out over the roof. Healthy ones are worth keeping. Honestly, it's the dead wood and the heavy limbs over the bedrooms we'd go after first.

Bay and the Spring Storms

On April 27, 2011, a low-end EF2 tornado with winds around 115 mph hit Bay during the Super Outbreak. In April 2025, people in Bay and Lake City were hurt in another tornado outbreak. Between the big ones, straight-line winds roll across the flats most springs and knock over trees that are already weak.

The trees that fail out here nearly always had a problem nobody looked at. A hollow trunk. Roots cut back when the ditch was cleaned. One big dead limb, or a fork that's started to split. Fixing those before storm season is a fraction of the cleanup bill after.

How much does tree removal cost in Bay?

Tree removal in Bay usually costs $400 to $1,200 per tree, according to HomeGuide's 2026 national figures. Oaks run $300 to $2,500 because the wood is dense and heavy. Pines run $250 to $1,600. Open rural lots often cost less, since there is room to drop trees whole.

If you have a row of trees to clear, doing them all in one visit saves real money, because the crew and equipment are already there.

Tree Trimming in Bay

Tree trimming in Bay is mostly about two things: clearing limbs off roofs, sheds and drives, and taking weight out of big trees before storms and ice. We remove dead wood first, then shorten the longest, heaviest limbs back to a side branch. We never top a tree. Cutting the top off leaves weak sprouts that break off later.

Ice on Delta Trees

Ice storms are rarer than spring storms, but they do more damage per hour. The January 2009 ice storm left about 300,000 homes in northern Arkansas without power, mostly from limbs on lines. Freezing rain coats every twig, and the weight adds up fast on wide, spreading trees.

Bradford pear and silver maple break first. A loblolly pine catches ice in its needles and can snap halfway up. Trimming out dead wood and shortening long limbs before winter takes away weight the ice would otherwise pile on.

Ice on a wide spreading tree is like hanging a full five-gallon bucket off the end of every limb, then asking it to hold still in the wind. Short limbs hold. Long ones don't.

Power Lines Out in the Country

Most of the countryside around Bay gets its power from Craighead Electric Cooperative. The co-op clears its own lines on the poles. That's their job. Limbs over the service drop, the line from the pole to your house or barn, are usually yours, and we trim those back as part of normal work.

Stump Grinding on Big Lots

On a farm lot, stumps get in the way of mowers, trucks and equipment. A stump grinder takes them 6 to 12 inches below the ground, along with the surface roots near them. Grindings can be spread as mulch, raked into the hole or hauled away. Doing several stumps in one trip costs much less per stump.

Tree Services We Offer in Bay

Here's what Bay homeowners and landowners call us for most. We'll price any of it two ways: full cleanup, or down only if you'd rather haul the wood yourself.

  • Tree Removal

Storm-damaged, dead and leaning trees taken down. Out in the open we fell them whole and save you the time. Near the house, the shop or the bins, we take them apart piece by piece with ropes.

  • Tree Trimming

Dead wood out, heavy limbs shortened and branches cleared off roofs, sheds and drives.

  • Windbreak Row Cleanup

Dead and leaning trees pulled out of field rows, brush chipped and logs hauled or stacked. We'd rather thin a windbreak than clear it. A row with a few gaps still slows the wind.

  • Stump Grinding

Stumps ground below the soil line so you can mow, plant or work the ground again. We ground around 600 stumps last year, and the farm-lot ones are honestly the most satisfying.

  • Storm Cleanup

Trees and limbs cleared from roofs, fences and roads after storms, with photos for insurance.

  • Ditch Bank Tree Removal

Trees leaning over ditches and culverts taken down before they fall in and block the water. See emergency tree removal for storm calls.

Tree Service in Bay: FAQ

Do you come out to Bay for small jobs?

Yes. Bay is only about 15 minutes from Jonesboro, and small jobs are normal for us. One dead tree, a few limbs over the roof, a stump by the mailbox. Most tree services have a minimum job fee of $100 to $300, so we'll usually suggest bundling two or three small things into one visit. Saves you money.

Can you clear trees along a ditch or field edge?

Yes. We can take out a whole row or just the dead and leaning trees in it. On open ground we usually fell trees whole, which keeps costs down. We chip the brush and either haul the logs or leave them stacked. Tell us about any drain tile or buried lines first.

How do I know if a big shade tree is dangerous?

Look for dead limbs, cracks in the trunk, mushrooms at the base, a hollow sound when you knock on it and a lean that is new or getting worse. Any one of those is worth a look. We can walk the tree with you and tell you if it needs trimming or removal.

Should I trim trees before storm season?

Yes, if they have dead wood or heavy limbs over the house. Late fall and winter are the best times, because the leaves are off and we can see the whole structure. Removing weight before spring storms and ice lowers the chance of a limb coming through the roof.

What happens to the wood after removal?

Your call. Most people want it all gone, so we chip the brush and haul the logs. Some keep the logs for the wood stove. Leaving the wood, which we call down only, costs less. I'll price it both ways at the quote visit and you pick.
